Sterile Processing Supervisor - Day Shift

About the role

The Sterile Processing Supervisor oversees the Sterile Processing Department (SPD), ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant reprocessing of surgical instruments and medical devices. This role supervises Lead Technicians, Sterile Processing Technicians I, II, III, and Non-Certified Technicians, coordinating daily workflows, assessing staff competency, maintaining quality assurance, adhering to regulatory standards, and providing customer service to perioperative and procedural areas.

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates daily workflow for the Sterile Processing Department.
• Safeguards staff competency through training and competency assessments.
• Maintains quality assurance measures and regulatory compliance.
• Ensures adherence to organizational and perioperative goals.
• Supports professional development of staff members.

Requirements

• Graduate of high school or GED equivalency.
• Certified in sterile processing from HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution).
• At least three (3) years of sterile processing experience and/or leadership role.

Qualifications

• Advanced certification (CIS, CER, CHL) preferred.
• Experience as a preceptor or trainer.
• Familiarity with electronic instrument tracking systems.

Skills

• Knowledge of sterilization principles, microbiology, and infection prevention practices.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer proficiency for documentation and recordkeeping.
