About the Role

Instrumentum is an innovative provider of off-site surgical instrument sterilization, transportation, storage, and loaner tray logistics, serving health systems and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). We are scaling rapidly to address the rising demand for elective surgeries and streamlined sterile processing services, with a mission to disrupt a traditionally fragmented and under-digitized sterile processing industry.

Sterilization Processing Departments (SPDs) are critical yet often overlooked, facing challenges like staffing shortages, poorly maintained facilities, and failure to adhere to safety standards. Instrumentum focuses solely on sterilization, investing heavily in facilities, equipment, and processes to ensure excellence every time. Responsibilities

  • Instrument Processing: Process medical instruments to meet the highest standards of excellence, identifying and addressing quality issues at every step. Apply advanced technology and adhere to established protocols to eliminate contaminants.
  • Assembly and Packaging: Assemble and package instrument sets with precision, verifying compliance with quality standards and readiness for use.
  • Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality control inspections throughout the sterile processing workflow to ensure adherence to all regulatory and internal standards. Identify and resolve quality concerns, implementing corrective actions.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring instruments are properly accounted for and available as needed. Perform regular quality checks on inventory to ensure sterilization and readiness criteria are met.
  • Safety and Infection Control: Enforce infection control protocols and utilize personal protective equipment to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of sterilization processes and quality control checks, ensuring documentation aligns with regulatory requirements.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and quality audits on sterilization equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Training and Education: Participate in ongoing training programs to stay current with industry standards and share quality control best practices with the team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (e.g., CRCST, CIS, or similar) is preferred.
  • At least two years of hands-on experience in sterile processing, with a focus on quality control.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to teamwork.

Schedule

  • 2nd shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • 3rd shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Location

This is an on-site position at our Modesto, California location. Occasional travel may be necessary to share best practices and meet with vendors and partners.
