About the role
The Sterile Processing Operations Coordinator supports the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to ensure timely, efficient, and safe processing of surgical instruments and equipment. This role serves as a liaison between the Operating Room and SPD, assisting with workflow coordination, staff support, quality assurance, and compliance with regulatory and infection control standards.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between the Operating Room and SPD, assisting with workflow coordination, staff support, quality assurance, and compliance with regulatory and infection control standards.
- Optimize instrument turnaround times, maintain high-quality standards, and support staff education and competency.
- Work closely with the SPD Manager to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Requirements
- Current certification as a CST/CSTFA/CRCST
- Three (3) years’ experience in surgical services and/or sterile processing environment
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of instrument processing workflows, regulatory standards, and infection prevention practices
- Excellent communication, organization, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to lead by example, delegate tasks effectively, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficient in instrument tracking systems and Microsoft Office applications
Skills
