About the role
Serves as a departmental resource for Sterile Processing Department (SPD) and other departments and models excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees.
- Assumes role and responsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
- Led and directed SPD employees.
- Communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department.
- Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department.
- Aids SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies.
- Aids with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
- Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s).
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years' experience in Sterile Processing.
- Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or other sterile processing certification required.
- Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.
Qualifications
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work with computer programs such as Excel and others as needed.
- Ability to order instruments via PeopleSoft.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to order instruments via PeopleSoft.
