About the role
The STEP Office of Aging is seeking an Informational Assistant to support older adults, caregivers, and community members. Key responsibilities include greeting visitors, answering calls, providing information, referrals, and assistance, managing applications and forms, and supporting various administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Greet visitors and answer calls through a multi-line phone system
- Provide information, referrals, and assistance to older adults and caregivers
- Help consumers access services, benefits, and community resources
- Aid with applications and forms for programs like Medicare, PACE, rent rebates, and other supportive services
- Create, edit, and maintain documents, reports, spreadsheets, presentations, brochures, and correspondence
- Enter and maintain data in state-required aging services databases
- Compile information and prepare reports for program and agency needs
- Affirm mailings, filing, recordkeeping, and office supply management
- Support the daily operations of the Office of Aging through a variety of administrative and clerical tasks
- Maintain confidentiality and provide exceptional customer service at all times
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Associate degree specializing in business, management information, office administration, or related field preferred
- One year of experience in office work
- Two years of experience with:
- Operating personal computer hardware used in desktop, laptop, and networking environments such as monitors, mouse, keyboard, scanners, and printers
- Personal computer operating systems used in desktop and networking environments
- A wide variety of desktop productivity tools, specifically including Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and/or Microsoft Explorer
- Strong communication skills including listening, understanding, informing, and speaking
- An amiable disposition and ability to remain professional when dealing with telephone callers or visitors
