General Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a step dance curriculum that caters to the interests and developmental stages of elementary students, focusing on rhythm, teamwork, and performance skills.
- Cultivate a safe, respectful, and stimulating learning environment where students feel valued and inspired to learn.
- Evaluate students' progress in step dance skills, providing constructive and encouraging feedback to support their development.
- Work closely with school personnel and building coordinators to ensure the step dance curriculum complements other educational programs and contributes to a holistic learning experience.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of student progress, monitoring their achievements and areas for improvement.
- Regularly communicate with educational stakeholders to share updates on student progress, program highlights, and upcoming events.
- Oversee the setup, maintenance, and storage of all step dance equipment and materials, ensuring they are in excellent condition for student use.
Major Duties
- Craft engaging and educational lesson plans that incorporate the principles of step dance with a focus on physical fitness, rhythm, and group coordination.
- Lead dynamic and inclusive step dance classes, ensuring active participation and fostering a supportive group environment.
- Continuously assess student engagement and progress, adapting instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Cultivate a classroom atmosphere that promotes respect, teamwork, and the joy of learning through dance.
- Maintain thorough records of student engagement, progress, and feedback, and prepare reports as required by the program standards.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement a curriculum that is both developmentally appropriate for elementary students and deeply engaging, with a focus on step dance.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to effectively connect with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively, accept constructive feedback, and adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students.
- High level of organizational competence, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines consistently.
- Extensive knowledge and expertise in step dance, including its history, techniques, and performance practices, ideally with previous experience teaching or performing in this or related dance forms.
- Experienced Dancers: Individuals with a strong foundation in step dance or similar dance forms, who have both performed and have experience or a keen interest in teaching dance to children.
- Educators and Coaches: Those who have experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring youth, with an understanding of child development and strategies for fostering a positive learning environment.
