Responsibilities
- Assign and delegate the daily workload for their team.
- ACT as the Subject Matter Expert for ship fitting.
- Train and mentor new hires assigned to their team.
- Determines appropriate procedures required to accomplish technical requirements of each job and report back to the Manager of Trades.
- Assure team complies with all organizational compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and state, local and federal regulations.
- Monitor crews and verify work is completed according to project blueprints.
- Examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
- Review engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and task sequences.
- Direct welders to build up low spots or short pieces with weld.
- Other miscellaneous duties may be required.
Qualifications
- 5 or more years of related experience required.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawing and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of shipbuilding materials, tools, and fabrication techniques.
- Skilled in layout, fitting, and assembly of metal components.
- Familiarity with welding processes and ability to direct welders as needed.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to train, mentor, and motivate team members.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
- MUST HAVE SHIP FITTING EXPERIENCE.
