About the Role

As an Engineer at DeSimone Consulting Engineering, you’ll contribute to the structural design process across a variety of projects. Working under the guidance of senior team members, you’ll perform structural analysis, assist in design development, and support project delivery from concept through construction. This role offers hands-on experience with technical design, site observations, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams while building a strong foundation for professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate procurement schedules to ensure materials are ordered, fabricated, and delivered according to project timelines.
  • Schedule and monitor truck deliveries to project sites while maintaining clear communication with vendors, carriers, fabrication shops, and field personnel.
  • Verify purchase orders, shipping documentation, delivery tickets, and material quantities for accuracy.
  • Track procurement milestones and delivery schedules, proactively identifying and communicating potential delays.
  • Maintain accurate procurement logs, delivery schedules, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Operations, and Fabrication teams to support project execution.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to confirm production schedules, shipping dates, and material availability.
  • Ensure all required documentation is received prior to delivery, including packing slips, bills of lading, and certifications when applicable.
  • Assist in resolving delivery discrepancies, scheduling conflicts, or material shortages in a timely manner.
  • Support inventory tracking and material allocation as needed.
  • Monitor project deadlines and help ensure procurement activities align with construction milestones.
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, reporting, document management, and maintaining procurement records.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by helping create a seamless delivery experience for internal teams and clients.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of administrative, scheduling, procurement, or project coordination experience within the AEC, structural steel, fabrication, or construction industry.
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction, or related fields.
  • Maintain and develop computer literacy skills, including specialist software, Microsoft Office, and Teams.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience coordinating deliveries, logistics, or material procurement preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with ERP, procurement, scheduling, or construction management software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of structural steel fabrication and construction workflows.
  • Understanding of purchase orders, shipping documentation, and delivery logistics.
  • Familiarity with trucking coordination and freight scheduling.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and project teams.
  • Strong customer service mindset with a focus on delivering an exceptional project and delivery experience.

Pay

This is a salaried, exempt position with an anticipated base salary range of $60,000-$70,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Most candidates are typically hired near the midpoint of the range, ensuring a balanced and equitable approach across our team. In cases where a candidate brings significantly more experience or specialized expertise than required, we may consider an offer toward the higher end of the range.
