Location: Arlington, TN • Contract-to-Hire • 2nd Shift (4:00 PM - 3:00 AM, Monday-Friday; some Saturdays required)
About the role
We are hiring a Steel Fabricator to join a busy structural steel manufacturing team. This role involves fitting and assembling structural steel components, interpreting fabrication drawings, operating shop equipment, and preparing assemblies for welding. Candidates should be comfortable working with heavy materials in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret structural steel blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and layout details
- Fit and assemble structural steel components, including beams, columns, stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metal products
- Measure, lay out, cut, and prepare materials using established fabrication methods
- Operate fabrication equipment such as ironworkers, mag drills, band saws, grinders, oxy-fuel torches, plasma cutters, and other shop machinery
- Tack and fit assemblies before welding and final production
- Move and position materials safely using overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and other material handling equipment
- Check dimensions, alignment, squareness, and fit-up to ensure quality before welding and final assembly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while meeting production schedules
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of structural steel fitting and fabrication experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and layout specifications
- Experience with structural steel layout, fit-up, and fabrication processes
- Knowledge of fabrication equipment, measuring tools, and shop machinery
- Ability to work with heavy materials and remain on your feet for extended periods
- Experience operating overhead cranes and rigging equipment is preferred
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to workplace safety
Preferred Skills
- Experience performing Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) in a structural steel fabrication environment
- Ability to produce clean, high-quality FCAW welds on structural steel components
- Experience welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions using FCAW
Pay
Starting pay from $21.00/hour (higher pay available based on experience) plus 10% shift differential.
Schedule
2nd Shift (4:00 PM - 3:00 AM, Monday-Friday; some Saturdays required).
