Steamfitter Pipefitter

About the role

This position will be responsible for preventive and corrective welding, plumbing maintenance work, and minimal installations for our clients. Additional duties include work on boilers and furnaces, requiring experience in pipe fitting, brazing, and soldering.

Responsibilities

• Provide cost estimates for steam projects beyond preventive and corrective maintenance, working with contractors to complete such projects.
• Handle every aspect of installation and maintenance of piping systems associated with steam.
• Install and repair gauges, valves, pumps, and automatic controls related to steam.
• Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of low-pressure (15 psi) and high-pressure (110 psi) systems used for heating domestic water and hot water loops using steam-driven heat exchangers.
• Establish and maintain preventive and corrective maintenance on steam systems.
• Demonstrate knowledge of steam regulatory valves, different styles of steam traps, and their applications.
• Complete all documentation required in CGL Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance work orders.
• Schedule outages when routine repairs are needed.
• Understand prints and use submittals to comprehend steam layout for the facility.
• Install, modify, repair, and maintain low and medium pressure steam and condensate systems, including all necessary appurtenances such as pressure reducing stations, pressure regulating valves, temperature controls, expansion joints, hangers, pipe guides, supports, heat exchangers, heating coils, pumps, steam traps, and manual shutoff and control valves.
• Follow technical manuals, codes, diagrams, and use previous experience to plan work procedures, make repairs, and order appropriate replacement parts.
• Perform various types of welding (Stick, TIG, etc.).
• Inspect completed work for conformance with local building and safety codes.
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace before, during, and after performing specific tasks.
• Perform work in accordance with established safety procedures and standards of CGL Facility Maintenance, OSHA, and clients.
• Complete all required compliance, safety, and developmental training as assigned.
• Assist in training other technicians in basics of the trade, provide mentorship, oversight, and direction.
• May be assigned duties outside usual Steamfitter/Pipefitter responsibilities.
• This position requires driving for the Company using either a Company vehicle or a personal/rental vehicle to conduct Company business more than 50% of the time.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years of maintenance experience in plumbing for commercial environments preferred.
• Experience with condensate piping systems preferred.
• Cutting and threading pipe experience preferred.
• Experience in start-up and shut-down procedures surrounding high-pressure steam preferred.
• Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance responsibilities.
• Ability to work on general trade problems.
• Must be a self-starter and motivated.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, night shifts, and be on call when needed.
• Ability to replace automatic sprinkler heads for sprinkler systems.
• Must become familiar with the design and layout of the facility.
• Must be a team player with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and desire to succeed while representing our firm with the best possible service to our clients.
• Reliable and dependable attendance and punctuality are essential for this position.
• Certifications may be required.
• Requires a self-motivated team player who can multitask and prioritize, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to interact effectively with clients.
• Valid and in-state Driver's License required.
