Steam-Refrigeration Engineer (L)
About the role
The Steam-Refrigeration Engineer (L) position is located at Fordham's Rose Hill campus. Reporting to the Assistant Chief Engineer, this role operates and maintains boilers, steam plant, refrigeration & air conditioning systems and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Operates and maintains high pressure/low-pressure boilers and associated systems and equipment.
- Maintains required plant and work request logs.
- Monitors fuel consumption and verifies receipt of oil deliveries.
- Oversees operation of all refrigeration equipment and systems, including, but not limited to: chillers, absorbers, compressors, pneumatic, and digital controls, etc.
- Oversees the daily work assignments of the Watch Mechanic and may be periodically required to perform the duties of the Watch Mechanic.
- Captures and coordinates all service calls to Boiler Room during hours when Facilities Operations Call Center is closed.
- Maintains cleanliness and appearance of assigned mechanical rooms.
- Competency with BMS, digital & pneumatic controls.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a stationary engineer, including 5 years of experience in air-conditioning & refrigeration repair and service.
- Active NYC High Pressure Boiler License.
- Active NYC COQ for Refrigeration Systems Operator’s License.
- EPA CFC Certification.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Must be computer literate with a high degree of proficiency in BMS systems.

Pay
Minimum Biweekly Salary for Internal Applicants with 3 or more years of service: $5,571.20
Maximum Biweekly Salary for Internal Applicants with 3 or more years of service: $5,571.20
Minimum Biweekly Salary for New Employees: $5,571.20
Maximum Biweekly Salary for New Employees: $5,571.20
Schedule
This position requires work hours from Saturday to Wednesday, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm.
