About the role

Collaborates with team members to assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data sets. This position does not require patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Writes and runs basic queries as needed.
  • Assists in maintaining existing reporting systems.
  • Contributes to presentations to key stakeholders.
  • Works with senior analysts to design, maintain, and distribute reports.
  • Learns leading practice analysis methodologies.
  • Conducts continuous analysis of current performance and accurately forecasts data trends.
  • Creates and runs data reports for study monitoring boards, including tables, figures, and listings.
  • Collaborates with clinical investigators and senior project biostatisticians in preparation of tables and figures for study manuscripts.
  • Helps with manuscript review and validation of data abstraction.
  • Develops code for reports used in study management, including reports for data querying and cleaning, study monitoring, and data quality checking.
  • Works with study coordinators to resolve data query issues.
  • Develops specifications based on study protocol and writes code to calculate derived variables; collaborates with statisticians to cross-check and update code as necessary.
  • Writes code to extract data from Electronic Data Capture Systems (EDC) and maintains internal data files for use in reporting and analysis.
  • Provides user support for EDC systems for site coordinators and study investigators, including development of training materials.
  • Works with coordinators and study investigators to resolve data queries in EDC.
  • Generates custom and/or deidentified datasets for data repositories, ancillary studies, and/or public distribution.
  • Collaborates with other statistical programmers and statisticians to maintain code base.
  • Creates and maintains documentation of datasets and data processes.
  • Works on optimization and automation of coding, reports, and data processes.
  • Performs other duties as needed to support MGH Biostatistics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Analytics or a related field of study required (experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree).
  • 0-1 year of data analysis experience preferred.
  • Building proficiency in statistics, data analysis, and data sets.
  • Proficient in time management and project management skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment to make decisions within the scope of job responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, spreadsheet, and database PC applications.
  • Solid quantitative, analytical, and technical aptitude skills.
  • Able to find and define problems, understand business impact, identify solutions, and provide recommendations for corrective action.

About the team

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is the largest research hospital in the United States with an annual research budget of approximately one billion dollars. The mission of MGH Biostatistics is to engage in impactful transdisciplinary partnerships involving quantitative methods in public health and biomedicine. The Biostatistics team includes over 50 faculty and staff embedded in collaborative research projects across over 25 Divisions and Departments at MGH and beyond, including cancer, cardiology, general internal medicine, global health, neurology, pediatrics, psychiatry, pulmonary and critical care medicine, and surgery.

Pay

Pay Range: $53,040.00 - $75,888.80/Annual (Grade 5). At Mass General Brigham, base pay is determined by skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other essential factors.
