Stationary Engineer / Plant Operator I - Campus Services

About the role

Safeguards and operates steam plant boilers (up to 4,000 BHP) and chillers (up to 2000 tons) and other associated equipment according to ASME and NFPA codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine inspections of the steam boiler plant, recording pressure / temperatures and other key operational data.
• Supports operations associated with an electrical power distribution panel.
• Performs minor mechanical piping repairs.
• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on utility systems including compressed air, CO2, steam boilers, water purification, fuel oil, chillers, and glycol.
• Supports the boiler chemical water treatment program.
• Supports the cleaning and upkeep of the boiler room to prevent fire hazards.
• Operates hand and power tools.
• Takes necessary precautions, adhering to OSHA standards and other applicable regulations, when working with hazardous chemicals and materials and power equipment.
• Uses personal protective equipment as required.
• Performs other related responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of experience supporting steam operations.
• A working knowledge of OSHA and EPA safety requirements.
• Some positions may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
• Capable of frequently lifting and carrying 50 pounds and pushing or pulling up to 150 pounds properly.
