DHL Global Forwarding (DGF) manages the flow of goods and information across a customer's global supply chain utilizing air/ocean/ground transportation, customs brokerage services, and dedicated warehousing/distribution centers. Responsibilities
- Support and develop a strong team of freight forwarding professionals in a manner that supports our goal of being Employer of Choice
- Ensure effective cost management by leading negotiations with external suppliers
- Manage service quality and monitor satisfaction levels for key customers; accompany Field Sales and Key Account Management to visit clients or prospective clients
- Direct annual budget preparation for Branch/District location; set, evaluate, and meet and/or exceed performance targets
- Ensure effective customer service through a process-oriented approach that delivers reliable and consistent service
- Ensure direct reports negotiate, prepare, and issue the most favorable buying rate quotations internally and externally with shipping carriers
- Manage business processes to ensure the accuracy of invoices, bills of lading, shipping statements, and foreign currency conversions
- Establish, monitor, and revise policies, procedures, and service standards for station operations; direct and ensure compliance with established DHL corporate policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with government regulations
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing direct reports
- Assign work, set completion dates, review work, and manage performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in the freight forwarding industry working with airfreight required; ocean freight experience is preferred
- Import and/or export experience is required; experience with both is preferred
- 3+ years’ experience in a leadership capacity is required
- BA/BS preferred
- Basic knowledge of CargoWise system is preferred

- Strong ability to develop, coach, train, and mentor staff to success
- Demonstrated leadership ability, including driving KPIs and employee engagement/team building
- Ability to achieve commercial drive in the workplace and a strong sense of business acumen
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, presentations)
- Proficient computer skills: Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook)
Pay
$115,290.00 - $153,720.00+ (based on experience)
