Smith Mountain Lake State Park is accepting applications for a Housekeeping Ranger position. Job Summary The housekeeping ranger's primary focus includes proper and prompt cleaning of cabins, restrooms, campground bathhouses, and other park facilities. The typical shift for this position is 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Key Duties And Responsibilities Efficient turnover of overnight facilities before check-in time.Ability to work with little to no direct supervision.Inventorying cabin supplies to ensure they are available for the next guest.Light maintenance and cleaning tasks necessary to operate state park facilities.Works various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evening shifts. Minimum Qualifications Detail-oriented, energetic, and dependableMust be 18 years or olderMust have a valid driver’s licenseAble to stand, bend, and work outdoors exposed to the elements.Basic knowledge of housekeeping procedures, equipment, and products.Experienced in handling multiple activities at the same time.Must be able to provide excellent customer service skills and interact in a team environment. Additional Considerations Previous experience working in a housekeeping or janitorial setting is preferred.Knowledge of safety practices in the use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.Experience with facility cleaning and laundry handling. Special Instructions Background Check: Employment in all Virginia State Parks positions is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check.
