High Bridge Trail State Park is accepting applications for a Maintenance Ranger Lead position. Job Summary In this position, you will have the opportunity to utilize your skills while connecting with your love for nature and the outdoors. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of equipment repair and other mechanical skills, including an aptitude for small engine maintenance and repair. They should also have the ability to work toward goals that ensure the park and its facilities are well cared for and adequate to support daily operations. Candidates should be able to follow directions, take initiative, and responsibly operate and maintain tools and equipment. Key Duties And Responsibilities Perform groundskeeper tasks such as mowing, weed eating, cleaning bathrooms, trash removal, and light construction.Work independently on assigned tasks.Safely and competently use all power tools (gas and electric).Perform routine maintenance on mowers, groundskeeper equipment, and tools.Perform basic carpentry for repairs to bridges and other park structures.Drive and operate utility tractors with various implements.Complete UTV training and demonstrate competence in trail use.Drive truck and trailer combinations with various loads and demonstrate proficiency in reverse operation.Supervise and train Maintenance Rangers and volunteers.Work outdoors in all weather conditions and temperature extremes.Available to work 8-hour or flexible shifts; day shift or weekends are options. Minimum Qualifications Combination of experience and/or training in one or more of the following: building, grounds, or equipment maintenance.General knowledge of the use and care of common hand tools, as well as cleaning supplies and equipment. Additional Considerations Experience in grounds maintenance and equipment operation.Experience leading or supervising others.Current Registered Technician Applicator’s License for herbicide through VDACS.Current Limbing and Bucking Sawyer Certification through Virginia State Parks.
