State Field Director
AOTF runs paid canvassing and ballot-access programs across multiple states. We are hiring in-state State Field Directors to lead these programs on the ground; relocation is required.
About the role
Each director owns a paid canvass program of 20-plus canvassers, with room to grow, and is responsible for meeting door-count and quality targets on a tight timeline. The role combines team management with operational discipline: recruiting and directing a field team while maintaining the integrity of the data it produces. Placement depends on the program.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations of a paid canvass program of 20+ canvassers
- Hire, train, and manage canvassers and team leads
- Build and own the program's staffing plan: set canvasser schedules, determine coverage, and verify canvasser hours daily
- Enforce data quality and field integrity standards, including spot-checks and fraud prevention
- Set and hold daily and weekly production goals; track performance and course-correct
- Work alongside our operations team to manage recruitment and supply logistics
- Report program numbers to AOTF leadership on a daily cadence
- Other duties as the program requires
Requirements
- 2+ cycles of field experience
- Experience managing a field team; experience managing managers preferred
- Track record of meeting metric-driven goals on deadline
- Proficient with VAN/Votebuilder and standard field tools
- Composed and decisive under the pressure of a live program
- Willing to relocate; valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
Pay
$6,500 to $7,500 per month
Benefits
- Health benefits
- Mileage reimbursements
- Monthly phone reimbursement for work-related use, up to $100/mo
Schedule
Full-time. Because you are directing a field team that works evenings and weekends, your hours will track the program and regularly fall outside a standard workday. Position runs through November 2026.
This position will be based in North Carolina and requires in-person presence. Candidate must be in, or willing to relocate to, the area. Reports to: Director of Field Operations.
