Stainless Steel Welder & Fabricator

About the Role

Responsible for welding, fabricating, and assembling stainless steel structures, equipment, and miscellaneous projects using welding machines, cutting machines, rollers, press brakes, and measuring/layout tools to produce metal parts and assemblies according to customer or employer specifications. Work may be performed either in the field or in the shop while maintaining safety and quality expectations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and productivity.
• Follow proper safety and incident reporting procedures.
• Report problems to the Foreman, Plant Manager, or Senior Project Manager.
• Operate press brakes, shears, iron workers, rolling machines, and saws for fabrication.
• Read and interpret blueprints, taking projects from concept to completion.
• Measure and differentiate types of materials accurately.
• Perform TIG welding on 304, 310, and 316 stainless steel, with working knowledge of MIG welding.
• Create welds that meet AWS standards, ensuring no porosity or defects.
• Clean weld splatter from surrounding areas.
• Use handheld torches and plasma cutters effectively.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Mastery of stainless steel TIG welding (304, 310, and 316 grades).
• Working knowledge of MIG welding and handheld torch/plasma cutting.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and blueprints.
• Experience with fabrication tools (press brake, shear, iron worker, rolling machines, saws).
• Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work in the shop or field as required.
• Clean driving record.

Work Environment

The role involves exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. Work conditions may include extreme environments at customer job sites, loud noise, inclement weather, heat, humidity, dust, and asphalt. The position requires working near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor conditions.

Physical Demands

• Lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Walk and stand for long periods, performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
• Use abdominal and lower back muscles to support heavy lifting without fatigue.
• Good manual dexterity and coordination for tasks requiring precision.
• Excellent stamina for demanding physical activities.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with standard hours of Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Starting times may vary by job. Evening and weekend work may be required as needed. Some local travel during the business day is expected, with potential for out-of-area or overnight travel.
