Responsibilities
- Acts as Stage Supervisor and point of contact for rental clients during rental events.
- Delegates and oversees duties of Theater Technicians, and assumes responsibility for set-up, operation, and strike of all staging and related technical equipment to complete a successful operation of rental events.
- Maintains skills and up-to-date knowledge of theater equipment, maintains the theater including light equipment, sound equipment, rigging equipment, fly rail system, and stage.
- Performs maintenance and repair work of all production lighting systems, low-voltage control systems, and various building electrical components.
- Acts as an advisor to Torrance Cultural Arts Center staff on technical theater related items.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in technical theater, or a related field.
- Three years of experience in technical production in a large arts complex, including experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Supervisory skills, including: hiring, training, counseling and disciplining.
- Public Contact/Interpersonal Skills, including: renter relations/marketing, and City employee and officials interaction.
- Theater Technical Skills, including: Modern lighting and sound equipment appropriate for theater use and set construction.
- A systems-rigging certification preferred.
Physical Demands
- The ability to stoop; to reach; to stand; to walk and sit for extended periods of time; to push and/or pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds; to lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Frequent ability to climb stairs and ladders, and to kneel and/or crouch.
- Primarily performed in a dynamic theatre environment.
- Duties may include operations in other Torrance Cultural Arts Center facilities and/or off-site locations.
