Show Synopsis
500 Words tells the story of Lance, the smartest kid in grade six, who never misses an opportunity to show off his vocabulary, and Sylvia, a daydreamer in grade three who struggles to find the words to bring her fantastical worlds to life. When Lance’s teacher assigns him Sylvia as a reading buddy, he’d rather focus on writing a prize-winning entry for the school’s story competition. But when Lance can’t think of a story on his own, Sylvia’s vibrant imagination inspires him. Learning together, the unlikely pair create something neither could have achieved alone. Sylvia begins to overcome her fear of reading, and Lance learns that the biggest word isn’t always the smartest—and that you can’t judge a person until you get to know them.
