Staffing Specialist- Temporary
40 hours per week | Variable days / 2nd Shift - Swing / 12:30 pm – 11:00 pm
About the role
The Staffing Specialist provides high-level staffing and scheduling support for designated inpatient and clinical units, ensuring appropriate staffing coverage based on census, acuity, skill mix, and staffing matrices. This position delivers concierge-level service by proactively communicating with nursing leadership and staff to identify and resolve staffing gaps, adjusting in real time as needed, and maintaining compliance with collective bargaining agreements and hospital staffing policies. The role requires excellent critical thinking, attention to detail, and independent decision-making while balancing patient safety, employee competencies, labor contract requirements, and financial considerations.
Responsibilities
- Accurately document and track employee attendance and coding within the timekeeping system for leadership referral.
- Make electronic timecard adjustments to ensure correct pay and proper department cost-center charging.
- Apply applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA) provisions to staffing decisions.
- Interpret and apply HR policies including Time Records, Attendance, ETO, Hours of Work, Overtime, and Leave of Absence.
Qualifications
- 3 years of customer service-related experience in a fast-paced, demanding environment – required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and scheduling systems – highly desired.
- High school diploma or equivalent – required.
- Associate’s degree in a related field – preferred.
