About the role
The Facilities Engineer III will serve as a technical leader responsible for end-to-end facilities support for on-site computer rooms at manufacturing locations, with a primary focus on electrical infrastructure, UPS and battery systems, rack layouts, power planning, and overall computer room readiness.
Responsibilities
- Own IT power demand planning for manufacturing computer rooms, including rack power budgets, peak load assumptions, growth buffers, amperage, phases, A/B feeds, and redundancy paths
- Develop and maintain documentation for power source paths, redundancy assumptions, and room feeding approaches
- Coordinate with plant electrical and facilities teams on electrical capacity, panel space, circuits, breakers, and phased expansions
- Define and manage UPS strategies, including sizing, runtime targets, monitoring, testing, maintenance, and replacement planning
- Troubleshoot and develop improvement plans for UPS and battery systems
- Create and maintain rack elevations and as-built room layouts while validating power, thermal, weight, cable, and space constraints
- Support computer room design, modernization, resiliency, and capacity expansion initiatives
- Identify and resolve physical and electrical infrastructure constraints while minimizing production impact
- Serve as a facilities escalation point for computer room power events and participate in root cause analysis and remediation planning
- Establish and maintain SOPs/MOPs for planned power work, UPS maintenance, rack changes, and room upgrades
- Provide QA/QC oversight for contractor work affecting computer rooms and critical electrical paths
- Manage vendor relationships for UPS, battery, and monitoring systems, including quotes, SOWs, and upgrade timelines
- Collaborate with plant maintenance on generator, transfer system, and testing readiness
- Support management and operation of the StruxureWare DCIM platform
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in critical facilities, electrical infrastructure, data center, or computer room environments, ideally supporting industrial or manufacturing facilities
- Hands-on expertise with UPS systems, battery technologies, and electrical distribution
- Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of electrical operational safety protocols
- Experience producing and maintaining rack elevations and layouts
- Ability to validate power, thermal, weight, space, and capacity constraints
- Experience with generators, ATS/STS units, and mission-critical electrical systems
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with industry data center tiering concepts
- Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial facilities
- Experience with electrical load planning, redundancy, and resiliency strategies
- Experience with UPS lifecycle management, runtime planning, testing, and capacity upgrades
- Experience with CAD-style rack elevations and computer room layouts
- Experience with StruxureWare DCIM or similar data center infrastructure management platforms
