Responsibilities
- Support conceptual design and development of new Turbomachinery as the subject matter expert in one or more key areas.
- Perform the necessary design trades, preliminary design work and analysis to support this.
- Collaborate with the Turbomachinery Design team to put together high performing state of the art new turbomachinery detailed designs that are manufacture-able and flight ready.
- Support existing Ursa Major Turbomachinery where applicable to troubleshoot performance or reliability issues in your area(s) of expertise.
Requirements
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in turbomachinery design and development.
- 5+ years’ experience working with CAD software, preferably Siemens NX or PTC Creo.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, startup environment.
- Significant experience / technical expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Rotor dynamics;
- Turbine stage aero-mechanical design;
- Hydrodynamic design of pumps / inducers etc;
- Turbomachinery detailed layout and design;
- Experience in a Turbomachinery related analysis software (ANSYS FEA, CFD or other specialized software as applicable).
Desired Skills And Experience
- Experience with structural and thermal analysis using Ansys FEA software.
- Proficient major industry CFD software (CFX, Fluent etc).
- Experience in liquid rocket engine, design, test or analysis.
Pay
Base compensation range: $132,000 - $165,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
