Staff System Engineer/Server (27861)
About the role
As a Staff System Engineer at Supermicro, you'll be responsible for deploying and maintaining critical business applications and services. You'll lead operational support for cluster, storage, HPC/AI, and cloud infrastructures, build and test complex platforms, document test procedures, troubleshoot issues, conduct benchmarks, and write technical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Deploy cluster/storage infrastructures and perform tests accordingly
- Leads the day-to-day operational support for Cluster, Storage, HPC/Ai and Cloud infrastructures
- Builds and tests complex cluster and cloud platforms to meet customer requirements
- Documents complex test procedures and troubleshooting procedures related to servers/networks/clusters software and hardware
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues. Provide fixes in a timely manner
- Conduct tests and benchmarks against server hardware, storage, network, applications, HPC and Machine Learning workflows
- Collect, visualize, and analyze test and benchmark results
- Write technical documentation including test reports and standard operating procedures
- Write scripts to automate tasks including cluster deployment and test environments
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent work experience
- 12+ years of Linux/Network administration skills with proven troubleshooting and optimization skills
- Familiar with TCP/IP protocol stack, UDP, IPv4-IPv6, DNS, DHCP and other Application level protocols
- Familiar with HPC, AI or Cloud benchmark tests, networking architecture
- Experience with Visualization technology, AI workload testing and cloud computing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Working independently under aggressive timeliness
Qualifications
- CCNA/CCNP, AWS, COA or RHCE certificates are a plus
- Positive attitude, desire to learn, time management, and strong interpersonal skills are a plus
- Willingness to travel to customers' data centers as needed
Benefits
The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $185,000. The salary offered will depend on several factors, including location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
