About the role
Provide best-in-class computer support for engineering design teams. Drive technical direction and escalation for technologies maintained within the Linux compute space, fostering innovation and automation of computer solutions both internally and for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Provision systems both physical and virtual
- Drive configuration management through Puppet
- Automate tasks, system builds, and change management using scripting languages and tools (Puppet, Python, shell, etc.)
- Monitor the overall health of the Unix/Linux environment with an emphasis on proactive discovery of potential issues
- Continually improve the Linux compute environment through automation
- Propose and implement system enhancements to improve performance and reliability of systems and services
Requirements
- 3-5 years managing enterprise RedHat Unix/Linux solutions, preferably at large scale
- 3-5 years of scripting experience (Shell, Python, etc.)
- 3-5 years of experience with virtualization (VMware)
- 2-3 years of experience with computer hardware/maintenance in the data center
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
Qualifications
- Experience supporting servers in the cloud (preferred)
- Proficient with LDAP configuration and management
- In-depth knowledge of RedHat Kickstart and configuration management tools (Puppet preferred)
- Proven skills in automating systems services and tasks to streamline service and ensure consistency
- AI-first mindset with experience applying AI to problem-solving and solution development
- FlexLM license management
- Advanced troubleshooting skills and ability to solve complex problems
- Strong drive for continuous improvement and commitment to excellent customer service
- Project management experience
- Experience with revision control systems
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal)
