Staff Support Specialist

About the role

Damar is a leading provider of behavioral health and intellectual and developmental disability (I/DD) services. The Resource Specialist position on the Resource Team is unique, focusing on keeping the environment safe for clients and supporting direct care staff.

Responsibilities

• Effectively respond to and manage crisis situations for all Damar programs - taking the leadership role in de-escalation and/or intervention when needed
• Initiate special precautions for clients exhibiting high-risk behavior criteria
• Take appropriate action regarding events affecting the mental and physical well-being of residents, including providing client and staff support, informal training, and crisis management
• Understand and implement behavior support plans for high acuity clients

Requirements

• Six months of full-time experience working with behavioral challenges and/or individuals identifying with the DD/ID population
• Formal proof of education required for the position
• Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements
• Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record meeting Damar’s insurance carrier’s eligibility requirements (for positions requiring driving)
• Clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect, or other disqualifying criminal convictions
• Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
• Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening

Pay

$16.50 per hour + eligibility for the Damar Advantage
