Shift Monday through Friday; Day shift. Job Summary The Staff Support Associate II/ UKHC assists the department in meeting requirements regarding medical record maintenance and meeting customer service expectations for delivery of patient information for a variety of reasons such as direct patient care and research. Schedules all medical surgical cases and revises schedule as necessary; obtains pertinent information from physician’s offices regarding procedures to be performed at the MOR ; and evaluates information received from offices for completeness, and obtains any other information necessary pre-operatively. This person also schedules procedures in block format; coordinates specific scheduling requests for time and equipment with the Administrator and OR Manager/or designee; notifies surgeon’s offices and the MOR staff of cancellations and re-scheduled cases. Maintains statistical data on a daily and monthly basis and can assume responsibilities of registration clerks, billers and controllers as necessary. Assists with general offices duties as necessary, i.e. answering phones, copying tasks, typing charts and remains calm and follows directions in emergency situations. Performs other Business Office duties as assigned. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Knowledge of basic administrative skills, medical terminology, and basic computer literacy; ability to work in a fast paced environment. Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience Experience with medical terminology preferred.
