About the role

The Staff Structural Engineer will work on project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of transmission and distribution projects across multiple clients in the public and private sector. The role involves working with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting structural plans and specifications according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Create and modify structural plans and specifications for transmission and distribution projects.
  • Design structural components for project needs and requirements as set forth by project managers.
  • Research and compile project-related data as required by project managers.
  • Review and correct production drawings for various projects using multiple CAD-related software.
  • Prepare information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the structural engineering practice.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Avoid non-compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes.
  • Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines.
  • Contribute to the QA/QC process for detailed engineering documents and specifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program, or Bachelor of Science in Structural or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
  • 3 years of structural engineering experience, preferably in consulting.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Plans to obtain Professional Engineering License (PE) when eligible per State requirements.
  • Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of structural design codes (e.g., IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE 7).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), including structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA 3D), AutoCAD, Mathcad, and Microstation (a plus).
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.

Pay

$105,000.00 - $155,000.00 yearly
