Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for the architecture, development, and evolution of our iOS platform.
  • Drive the design and delivery of scalable, high-quality iOS applications and services across key customer-facing products.
  • Partner closely with other engineers, product management, design, and cross-functional stakeholders to define and execute the iOS engineering strategy.
  • Influence technical direction across multiple teams, establish best practices, and ensure architectural consistency, performance, reliability, and maintainability across the iOS ecosystem.
  • Lead complex initiatives from concept through delivery, balancing near-term business needs with long-term platform investments.
  • Drive technical decision-making, identify and mitigate risks, and champion engineering excellence through code quality, operational rigor, and continuous improvement.
  • Play a key role in developing engineering talent by mentoring senior and junior engineers, providing technical guidance, fostering collaboration, and elevating the overall effectiveness of the iOS organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering shipping customer facing applications on iOS.
  • Deep expertise in Swift, SwiftUI, and modern iOS development practices, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality mobile experiences.
  • Proven experience defining and driving mobile architecture, technical strategy, and engineering best practices across multiple products or teams.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines and mobile release process.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and strategic recommendations to engineers, product managers, designers, and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience operating in start-up settings, launching 0 to 1 product, and driving graduation to highly customized applications.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Passion for mobile technology and a commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building systems in the automotive industry, or experience building mobile apps that connect to IoT devices.
  • Experience with mobile app testing, experimentation frameworks and automation frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and services, such as AWS or Azure.

Pay

Initial base salary range: $165,000.00 - $200,000.00

Schedule

This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Fremont, California. This role requires 2 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
