Staff Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will focus on building and evolving the foundational data systems that support engineering and research teams across the organization. The ideal candidate will guide complex initiatives from requirements through deployment while improving developer productivity, scalability, and operational efficiency. You will partner closely with stakeholders to evaluate dependencies, shape technical direction, and strengthen the team’s engineering culture in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Guide complex projects from requirements gathering through deployment
• Build scalable data infrastructure to improve developer experience
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering and research teams
• Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate technology dependencies
• Shape the team’s technical roadmap and engineering culture

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering
• Expertise in software design with a focus on efficiency and scale
• Hands-on experience in a Linux/UNIX environment
• Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C++
• Experience building scalable services, APIs, and large-scale data infrastructure
• Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex ideas

Pay

$150,000 – $180,000 annually
