Staff Software Engineer – Data Acquisition

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Data Acquisition to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will focus on building and evolving high-performance data ingestion capabilities that support reliable, scalable information flow across the organization. You will lead the design of a modular ingestion platform, ensuring data integrity, traceability, and operational resilience. The position partners closely with architecture, engineering, and governance stakeholders to deliver secure integrations that meet freshness, throughput, and recovery requirements. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $140,600 – $173,100 annually Responsibilities Build and maintain high-performance data acquisition pipelines Lead the design and delivery of a modular ingestion platform with reusable connectors Implement schema validation, completeness checks, and audit logging in ingestion components Support safe retries, replay, and schema evolution for data integrity Design ingestion patterns that meet freshness and throughput requirements Ensure traceability and security through governance system integration Conduct design and code reviews, and mentor engineers in platform design Qualifications B.Sc. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; M.Sc. preferred 8+ years of software engineering experience with production distributed systems Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Scala, or similar languages Experience with data integration and ingestion pipelines Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals such as version control and performance tuning Proven ability to design and operate production integrations with schema evolution and failure recovery Experience leading architecture decisions and guiding cross-team implementations Benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement savings plan Paid time off Health savings and flexible spending accounts Life and disability insurance Tuition reimbursement Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
