Staff Software Engineer, Backend Platform

Our team is building tools to optimize the creator-to-fan relationship, including native video, enhanced podcasting features, improved creation tools, and new community experiences. About The Team
As a Staff Backend Platform Software Engineer at Patreon, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, high-performance backend systems that power our creator membership platform. You will collaborate with engineers and product managers to build and maintain reliable, efficient systems that support Patreon's growth.
What You'll Need
- 8+ years of experience in backend software engineering, or equivalent demonstrated experience
- Strong experience with Python or a similar language
- Strong understanding of software design patterns and principles
- Experience with relational databases (such as PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (such as Redis)
- Experience with container orchestration (such as Kubernetes)
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development
- Writes clearly for technical and non-technical audiences, and collaborates effectively across engineering and product teams to scope and ship features
- Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) practices
- Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or the equivalent
Job Location
This role is based in San Francisco and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model.
