For a leader in the Finance & Insurance space, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Backend Order Platform team. This role will lead technical work focused on cloud-enabled scalability, reliability, and delivery excellence. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a regulated financial services environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Responsibilities
- Set and drive technical strategy for long-term projects
- Collaborate with product management and design teams to ensure sustainability and manage risks
- Define technical solutions and operational processes to amplify team impact
- Ensure team operations and system availability with proper monitoring and incident management
- Foster a culture of quality through code review standards and tech advocacy
- Mentor and develop engineering talent through guidance and feedback
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience designing and developing backend systems at scale (Python or Kotlin)
- Proven track record in developing highly available distributed systems (AWS, MySQL, Spark, Kubernetes)
- Experience in crafting services with clear API boundaries and strong reliability
- Ability to deliver major features and system components with technical execution plans
- Comfortable navigating from low-level programming to large system architecture
- Demonstrated skill in gathering and responding to feedback
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
Pay
$204,000 – $264,000 annually
