Staff Software Engineer - Backend
About the role
At Databricks, we are seeking a software engineer with a backend focus to join our dynamic engineering teams. Your responsibilities will involve working closely with your team and product management to prioritize, design, implement, test, and operate micro-services for the Databricks platform and products. This includes writing software in Scala/Java, building data pipelines, integrating with third-party applications, and interacting with cloud APIs.

Requirements
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, or a related field
- 10+ years of production level experience in one of: Java, Scala, C++, or similar language
- Comfortable working towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables
- Experience in architecting, developing, deploying, and operating large scale distributed systems
- Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures
- Good knowledge of SQL
- Experience with software security and systems that handle sensitive data
- Experience with cloud technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes
Qualifications

Benefits
The pay range for this role is $192,000—$260,000 USD. Additional benefits include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above. For more information regarding which range your location is in visit our page here.

The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents the expected salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location.
