Responsibilities
- Work with engineers and technical leaders across the company to ship interoperable products and systems on strong foundations that manage customer interactions inside and outside of the vehicle
- Contribute to architecture and lead the design and implementation of complex software systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications and deliverables
- Design, implement, and support identity, access, and profile-related services for multiple web applications, mobile apps, and vehicle apps supporting internal and customer as users
- Implement best practices and standards for software development, including code reviews, testing, and documentation
- Mentor and coach junior team members, providing guidance and support to help them grow and succeed
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, continuously learning and experimenting with new tools and techniques to improve our software development process
- Be responsible for the services that are owned by your team, ensuring 24/7 on-call coverage
- Use AI-assisted development tools effectively to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
- 8+ years in software development, with a focus on back-end technologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in one of Go, Node.js, Python, Java
- Experience with both relational and/or non-relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis)
- Experience with identity management systems (e.g., Azure AD, AWS Cognito, LDAP, Okta, Keyclock) and directory services for user authentication and management
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a passion for finding elegant solutions to complex challenges
Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Experience with microservices architecture
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible)
- Experience with Agile methodologies and Scrum
Skills
- Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Experience with RESTful APIs and GraphQL
- Experience with database migrations and schema design
- Experience with version control systems (Git)
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)

Pay
Initial base salary range: $165,000.00 - $200,000.00
Schedule
This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Fremont, California. This role requires 1 day per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
