Staff Scientist I

Our Middletown, CT office is looking for an ambitious Scientist I to join our growing environmental team. Responsibilities
- Conduct field oversight and documentation for various environmental tasks, including drilling, groundwater sampling, site assessments, and remedial activities
- Conduct field sampling of environmental media, including soil, water, air, and waste materials
- Oversee drilling and remediation subcontractors on-site
- Collaborate with field teams, subcontractors, and laboratory analysts
- Manage environmental data and laboratory results using Microsoft Excel
- Review soil, water, and air data from commercial laboratories and compare results against regulatory criteria
- Interpret field and laboratory quality control (QC) data, including blanks, control samples, instrument calibrations, and chromatograms, to ensure data quality objectives are met
- Preliminary preparation of technical reports for investigation and assessment activities
Requirements
- 0–4 years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., data filtering/sorting, pivot tables, lookup functions, conditional formatting)
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing
Pay
Salary Range: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00
