Staff Scientist/Geologist – Entry to Mid-level
Tetra Tech is seeking a Mid-Level Geologist/Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental team in Houston, TX. About the role
This position involves a variety of technically complex assignments performed under supervision, requiring strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and initiative. You will contribute to geological and environmental projects within the oil and gas industry, including due diligence, site assessment, remediation, and reclamation activities. Projects are primarily based in New Mexico and conducted in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Review, comprehend, and complete work scopes
- Perform project tasks on public and private sector environmental projects
- Assist in preparation of subcontract documents, work plans, and reports under the direction of senior engineers and scientists
- Assist in data tabulation and evaluation
- Support technical writing and report preparation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in geology or a related field
- Entry-level to five years of related experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Earth, and Adobe Acrobat software
- Ability to work effectively with other technical professionals
- Clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher training
Physical Requirements
This role primarily involves office work, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods while using a computer and telephone. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting or carrying light materials up to 20 pounds may be required.
