Staff Scientist/Geologist – Entry to Mid-level
Tetra Tech is adding a Mid-Level Geologist/Environmental Scientist to our Environmental team based in Houston, TX.
About the role
This position involves a variety of technically complex assignments performed under supervision and requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and initiative. Responsibilities include geological and environmental work associated with the oil and gas industry, such as due diligence, site assessment, remediation, and reclamation activities, as well as the preparation of technical reports and supporting project documentation. Projects are primarily based in New Mexico and are conducted in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
- Review, comprehension, and completion of work scopes.
- Perform project tasks on public and private sector environmental projects.
- Assist in preparation of subcontract documents, work plans, and reports under direction of senior engineers and scientists.
- Assist in data tabulation and evaluation.
- Assist with technical writing reports and preparation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in geology or a related area; entry-level up to five years of related experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Earth, and Adobe Acrobat software.
- Must be able to work effectively with other technical professionals.
- Clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher training.
Physical Requirements
This position primarily involves office work and requires the ability to sit for extended periods while using a computer and telephone. The role may also require occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting or carrying light materials up to 20 pounds.
