Staff Scientist (Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine)

About the role

The purpose of this position is to serve as a senior staff scientist in the Human Immunology Core with cost-sharing from research grant funding. The individual will be responsible for establishing, optimizing, validating, and performing complex immunologic assays, including multiplex bead arrays and immunophenotyping. Experience in antibody engineering, cloning, expression, and specificity analysis is required. Expertise in computational modeling and big data analysis is a useful additional skill. The role involves working in a highly collaborative team science environment to support ongoing projects spanning basic research.

Position contingent upon funding.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments independently, focusing on B/T cell repertoire profiling, antibody cloning and expression, antibody specificity analysis, molecular modeling, and immunophenotyping.
• Develop and perform high-quality complex immune monitoring assays for evaluating immune-mediated diseases, including autoimmune disease, and monitoring therapy.
• Perform basic molecular and cellular immunology techniques such as cloning, cell culture, multidimensional flow cytometry, and ELISPOT.
• Demonstrate strong scientific communication skills, including written reports and PowerPoint presentations.

Requirements

• Master of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Proficiency in basic molecular and cellular immunology techniques.

Qualifications

• A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree and at least 5 years' experience in immunology is preferred.
• Experience in a broad range of basic molecular and cellular immunology techniques such as cloning, B and T cell repertoire profiling, multidimensional flow cytometry, and ELISPOT.
• Strong scientific communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative team science and core lab environment.

Pay

Salary offers range from $51,824.00 to $89,106.00 annually, based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they relate to the position requirements, as well as internal and market factors.
