About the role

This is a full-time (4) 10-hour shift Monday through Friday position, with hours of 7am to 5pm or 9am to 7pm depending on department needs. Offering a $30,000 sign-on bonus for experienced candidates!

Responsibilities

• Career coordination and delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and following all established standards of practice within State and Federal guidelines.
• Supervision of non-RN personnel and acting as a resource for ancillary staff on assigned unit.
• Supervising unit activities when assigned to charge or clinical coordinator role.
• Acting as preceptor to new staff and/or students as requested.
• Adhering to all Stamford Hospital’s policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program.
• Providing safe and therapeutic care using the values inherent in our hospital culture.
• Providing direct patient care to a select group of patients and advocating on their behalf.
• Assessing patient’s physical and psychosocial condition throughout the continuum of care.
• Developing and communicating patient plan of care reflecting patient issues and proposed interventions to achieve desired patient outcome.
• Collaborating with patient, family and healthcare team in implementing plan of care.
• Communicating effectively with all members of the health care team and related departments to provide accurate information about the care of the patients.
• Displaying a positive attitude and working to achieve an environment of respect, accountability, teamwork, integrity, and compassion.
• Does not support or take part in disruptive or negative behavior.
• Respecting and protecting the patient’s rights to confidentiality and privacy and disclosing information only for professional purposes which are in the patient’s best interests with full consideration of their legal rights.
• Practicing the 5 rights to patient safety when administering medications, blood or blood products and treatments. (right patient, right medication, right route, right dose, right time).
• Responding to crisis in a calm, efficient manner, directing others concisely.
• Evaluating patient outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care and readiness for discharge and/or continuing care. Revise plan of care as needed and appropriately refer for additional services where indicated.
• Documenting pertinent information, observations and all aspects of patient care clearly, concisely and in a timely manner.
• Maintaining equipment and utilizing supplies in a safe, cost effective manner.
• Participating in and supporting performance improvement and risk management activities.
• Participating in clinical research activities and demonstrating evidence base practice.
• Supporting hospital-wide and unit specific initiatives (e.g. Planetree, Magnet, Joint Certification, etc.).

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of OR RN experience.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Valid license as Registered Nurse in Connecticut.
• BSN strongly preferred.
