Job Summary
The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care according to established standards, policies, and procedures. The role adheres to Kaiser Permanente’s Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan.
Essential Responsibilities
Learns and applies Kaiser Permanente’s policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and relevant state, federal, and local laws.
Serves as a leader, delegating tasks appropriately and demonstrating accountability. Understands and supports the team’s scope of practice, escalating issues as necessary.
Communicates effectively using various strategies, including the chain of command and issue escalation, to achieve intended outcomes. Participates in problem-solving and mentoring.
Ensures the individualized plan of care reflects assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. Monitors progress and revises the plan as needed.
Ensures patient safety, including medication administration, patient falls, decubitus prevention, and infection control. Ensures optimal pain control and patient comfort.
Documents accurately and timely, reflecting the nursing process and interventions. Utilizes computer systems for efficient patient care.
Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss patient findings and progress. Participates in performance improvement activities.
Maintains a safe environment for self and others. Adheres to workplace safety principles and practices. Applies standard precautions.
Provides excellent customer service, answering call lights, alarms, and patient requests promptly. Maintains patient confidentiality and ensures a clean, orderly, and functional work environment.
Supports a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through unit-based teams. Adheres to attendance policies and reports to shifts promptly.
Organizes work to minimize overtime use. Identifies and assists in systems improvement. Utilizes payroll and non-payroll resources effectively.
Experience
Minimum six (6) months of experience required in an acute or sub-acute facility within the last three (3) years.

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
Registered Nurse License (California)
Basic Life Support from American Heart Association

If twelve (12) hour option chosen, shift will be 7:00 pm-7:30 am, with a backup 8-hour shift of 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm.
