Role Overview
This position involves assessing, planning, delegating, and evaluating nursing care for a patient group, acting as a primary or accountable nurse based on unit assignment. Responsibilities include patient and family education on health promotion and disease management, safe medication administration, and resource utilization. It requires adherence to nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and policies, as well as active participation in shared governance and quality improvement initiatives. Engagement in professional development, evidence-based practice, and supporting new staff is essential. The role may include duties as a Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator when assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program, with a preference for a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Previous clinical experience in acute or ambulatory care settings is preferred.
- Current NYS RN License or valid NYS Limited Permit as a GN.
- Optional certifications include professional nursing specialties, ACLS, PALS, or TNCC as required by the unit.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, safety protocols, and evidence-based practices is necessary.
