Staff Registered Nurse - Emergency Department, Evening (3:00 PM - 3:30 AM)

Responsibilities

• Manage goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
• Keep patients and family informed regularly and as needed.
• Assess and diagnose patient and family needs in order to provide quality care to assigned patients.
• Develop, discuss, and communicate a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient, in collaboration with family/significant other to address all identified needs.
• Demonstrate the skills and judgment necessary to implement the medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
• Evaluate the identified problems, care provided, and patient’s responses are reassessed in order to meet patient and family needs to assure overall quality of care delivered.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, in order to assure quality care.
• Maintain current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursue professional growth and development.
• Function as a role model for current and new staff.
• Perform all responsibilities required by the emergency unit/critical care division as defined in the scope of service, to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. This includes, but is not limited to, the age of the client served.
• Utilize and follow national patient safety standards and develop practice standards that are evidence-based.

Requirements

• 2 Year/Associate Degree in Nursing, required.
• 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred.
• Minimum 1 year hospital Med/Surg experience, preferred.
• Critical care nursing experience, preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid NYS RN license, required.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications will be required within 6 months.
• TNCC Certification within 1 year of employment, preferred.
• EPNC, SANE certifications, preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
• Occasional climbing, crouching, kneeling, stooping, fit testing.
• Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking.

Hazards

• Occasional chemical, explosives, mechanical, radiation/radiant energy.
• Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure.

Working Conditions

• Occasional odors.

No travel required.

Pay

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.

Pay Range Minimum: USD $39.61/Hr.

Pay Range Maximum: USD $51.65/Hr.

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus up to USD $20,000.00.
