Staff Psychologist - University Counseling Services #26-29

About the role

The Department of University Counseling Services (UCS) at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a licensed psychologist to serve as Staff Psychologist in the Student Services Professional, Academic-Related II level. The position is a 12-month, tenure-track position.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical and outreach services to a diverse population of university students and serves as the Coordinator of the Psychiatry Residency Rotation at UCS.
• Collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to develop and implement appropriate campus/community psycho-educational programs and interventions to increase student academic and personal success.
• Provides clinical assessment, short-term individual and couples counseling, group psychotherapy and structured psycho-educational groups, triage/urgent care services, and clinical case management.
• Provides general outreach programs and interventions to the campus community.
• Serves as a member of the supervision team with residents and their supervisors.
• Participates in the department’s APA-accredited doctoral training program, including provision of supervision and training.
• Serves on department and university committees.
• Attends UCS staff meetings, case conferences, professional development activities, and retreats.
• Maintains ethical and timely documentation of all clinical work in electronic medical record keeping system.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited institution.
• Licensure in the State of California as a psychologist.
• Demonstrated generalist clinical therapeutic and diagnostic skills including the ability to provide clinical assessment; brief, focused, and effective counseling; group psychotherapy; crisis intervention; and case management.
• Demonstrated experience providing professional consultation, and outreach programs on a variety of topics relevant to diverse college students.
• Experience serving as a clinical supervisor.
• Demonstrated commitment to multiculturalism and ability to establish and cultivate respectful relationships with people from diverse backgrounds (e.g., race, ethnicity, culture, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, religion, spirituality, ability differences, age, national origin, immigration status, language).
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals and actively contribute to a collegial working environment.
• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills and ability to engage in effective time management.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an APA-accredited doctoral internship in health service psychology.
• Experience working in a university counseling center setting.
• Experience working with medical discipline personnel.
• Administrative experience.
