About the role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive psychological evaluations utilizing clinical interviews - behavioral observations - standardized psychological testing - and evidence-based assessment instruments
- Diagnose mental health disorders utilizing DSM-5-TR criteria and formulate appropriate treatment recommendations
- Deliver evidence-based individual - couples - family - and group psychotherapy utilizing brief - solution-focused - and recovery-oriented treatment approaches
- Conduct functional assessments related to depression - anxiety - PTSD - insomnia - chronic pain - substance use disorders - health behavior change - adjustment disorders - and other behavioral health concerns commonly treated in Primary Care
- Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing measurement-based care and evidence-based clinical practice guidelines
- Perform suicide risk assessments - violence risk assessments - crisis intervention - and safety planning consistent with VHA policy
- Collaborate with Primary Care Providers - nursing staff - social workers - pharmacists - care managers - and specialty mental health providers to coordinate Veteran-centered care
- Deliver consultation to Primary Care teams regarding behavioral health conditions affecting medical treatment outcomes
- Utilize population health management principles to improve access to behavioral health services and reduce barriers to care
- Deliver psychoeducation to Veterans - families - caregivers - and interdisciplinary staff regarding behavioral health conditions and evidence-based treatment options
- Document clinical services accurately and timely in the electronic health record in accordance with VHA documentation standards
- Maintain clinical privileges and practice within the ethical standards established by APA - VHA - and applicable state licensing boards
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and case conferences
- Maintain knowledge of current clinical research and incorporate evidence-based interventions into daily practice
- Support VHA Whole Health initiatives and Veteran-centered care through collaborative interdisciplinary practice
- Serve on Medical Center - Service Line - or interdisciplinary committees as assigned
- Perform other related duties as assigned
