About the Role

This part-time Staff Psychiatrist, CF (SAFETY) position is located at Mule Creek State Prison (MCSP) in Ione, CA. Under the general direction of the Senior Psychiatrist (Sup), the Psychiatrist in Mental Health Services is a member of an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team providing general population outpatient services to inmates.

Responsibilities

  • Perform psychiatric evaluations
  • Participate in treatment planning and case reviews
  • Prescribe medications
  • Provide crisis intervention and psychotherapy
  • Provide consultations and training in treatment approaches to both clinical and custody staff of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team

Requirements

  • Valid California state medical license and board certification/eligibility in psychiatry

Pay

  • Part-time (20 hours/week) monthly salary range: $15,129.50 – $15,568.00
  • Salaries do not reflect the 4.62% Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) base salary reduction effective July 1, 2025, which applies to full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 16 and related classifications; part-time employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis
  • Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) authorized rate for this classification: P $15,126.50, Q $15,568.00
  • 15% pay differential for employees physically located at and assigned to direct in-person patient care on grounds or at a facility more than 50% of the pay period

  • Potential $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend for eligible candidates who remain employed with CCHCS for six months
  • Potential monthly recruitment and retention differential during the first year (totaling $5,000) for eligible candidates
  • CDCR/CCHCS employees may be eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus for referring a selected candidate who remains employed for 90 days
