About the Role
This position is for a Staff Psychiatrist, CF (SAFETY) located at Pleasant Valley State Prison (PVSP) in Coalinga, CA (Fresno County). The role operates under the general direction of the Senior Psychiatrist (Supervisor) as part of an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team providing outpatient mental health services to incarcerated individuals.
Responsibilities
- Perform psychiatric evaluations and participate in treatment planning and case reviews.
- Prescribe medications and provide crisis intervention and psychotherapy.
- Offer consultations and training on treatment approaches to clinical and custody staff.
- Collaborate with an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatric social workers.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the qualifications for Staff Psychiatrist, Correctional and Rehabilitative Services (Safety) (9758). Additional details are available in the Duty Statement.
Pay
- Base salary reduction of 4.62% under the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025), with 8 PLP 2025 leave credits granted monthly for at least 16 months (effective July 1, 2025).
- Authorized Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) rates: P $30,259, Q $31,136.
- 15% monthly pay differential for employees providing direct in-person patient care on grounds or at a facility for more than 50% of the pay period (effective July 1, 2023).
- Eligibility for a $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend after six months of employment.
- Eligibility for a $5,000 recruitment and retention differential during the first year of employment.
- CDCR/CCHCS employees may qualify for a $5,000 referral bonus if the selected candidate remains employed for 90 days.
