Staff Psychiatrist, CF - High Desert State Prison (HDSP)

Position: Staff Psychiatrist, CF (SAFETY) at High Desert State Prison (HDSP) in Susanville, CA (Lassen County). Position number: 934-220-9758-XXX. Main communication for this role will be via email.
About the Role
Under the general direction of the Senior Psychiatrist (Supervisor), the Staff Psychiatrist in Mental Health Services is a member of an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team providing outpatient services to inmates. The team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatric social workers assigned to a service area.
Responsibilities
- Perform psychiatric evaluations and participate in treatment planning and case reviews.
- Prescribe medications and provide crisis intervention and psychotherapy.
- Offer consultations and training in treatment approaches to clinical and custody staff.
Pay
- This classification is subject to Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) authorization with authorized rates: P $30,259, Q $31,136.
- Eligible employees providing direct in-person patient care for more than 50% of the pay period receive a 15% pay differential of their monthly base pay.
- Recruitment and retention bonuses may be available, including:
- A $10,000 one-time stipend after six months of employment.
- A $5,000 monthly differential during the first year of employment (totaling $5,000).
- CDCR/CCHCS employees may be eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus if the referred candidate is hired and remains employed for 90 days.
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) reduces base salary by 4.62% for full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 16, with 8 PLP 2025 leave credits granted monthly for at least 16 months. Part-time and intermittent employees are subject to prorated conditions.
