STAFF/PROJECT ENGINEER
About the Role
Olson Engineering, Inc. has openings in our Wheat Ridge, Colorado corporate office and our Rockville, Maryland branch office for Staff/Project Engineers with backgrounds in Structural, Geotechnical, or Materials Engineering and a strong interest in conducting nondestructive evaluation (NDE) investigations of bridges, buildings, dams, tunnels, pavements, foundations, and other civil structures.
This position involves approximately 25 to 40% fieldwork, including both local and out-of-town projects. Occasional national and international travel for up to 2 to 3 weeks at a time may be required. The role demands strong data collection, analysis, and communication skills, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Candidates must be willing to work occasional nights/weekends and travel on short notice.
Responsibilities
- NDE and Geophysical data acquisition
- NDE and Geophysical data processing and analysis
- Preparation of draft reports and proposals
- Communicate and coordinate with clients
Requirements
- BS in Structural, Geotechnical, and/or Materials Engineering (Graduate Degree preferred)
- Ability to travel extensively nationally and internationally
- Ability to conduct fieldwork in difficult conditions
- Comfortable working at heights
- Must be able to repeatedly lift 70 lbs
- EIT registration (PE registration is a plus)
- Clean driving record and ability to pass drug tests when required by clients
Desirable Skills & Experience
- NDE methods such as Impact Echo, Sonic Echo, Surface Waves, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity/Echo, Ground Penetrating Radar, Corrosion, Infrared Thermography, Pile Integrity, Structural Health Monitoring
- AutoCAD/Solidworks
- AASHTO/NHI/Bridge design/load rating/inspection experience/certifications
- Finite element modeling experience
- Strong engineering mechanics/materials background

Pay
$65K to $80K per year
