Staff Product Manager
About the role
The Opportunity You'll own a meaningful product surface within one of BetterUp's core product areas — driving execution, building customer relationships, and shipping work that moves metrics.
Responsibilities
- Translate the product area's vision into concrete execution plans and own delivery against them.
- Spend significant time with customers — solution design sessions, product demos, and direct conversations with enterprise buyers and end-users.
- Build your own customer relationships and use that signal to shape what you build.
- Prototype working demos with AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Replit, Figma Make) before engineering spends a sprint.
- Run hypothesis-driven experiments; kill what isn't working and redirect without drama.
- Drive your cross-functional squad (Engineering, Design, Data) toward outcomes.
- Connect your work to the broader product portfolio — leveraging shared platform capabilities and aligning with peer PMs to ensure your product surface enhances the value of the overall platform.
- Define and track success metrics for your product surface, ensuring the work delivers measurable business value.
- Communicate progress and surface risks early.
Requirements
Experience What We’re Looking For 5+ years in product management or related roles, with demonstrated ownership of product outcomes — not just feature delivery.
Qualifications
- Experience contributing to product-market fit — you've been close to the problem of figuring out why something isn't landing and have played a meaningful role in changing course. You understand the difference between shipping and solving.
- Experience building products in B2B2C environments — you understand the dynamics of selling to enterprise buyers while building for the end-users those buyers serve.
- Direct customer exposure in enterprise contexts — you've been in the room with buyers and users, not just reading summaries. You know how to turn those conversations into product hypotheses.
- Domain expertise in organizational transformation, human transformation, talent intelligence, or related fields is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Relentless agency. You have an internal locus of control — when something isn't working, you own it and fix it rather than pointing to external factors or waiting for someone else to act.
- Humility to know what you don't know; relentlessness to figure it out anyway.
- Strong executive communication skills — you can tell the story of your product, your bets, and your learnings clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- Developing product vision and strategic thinking. You have a point of view on where your product surface should go and can defend it with evidence, while staying open to updating that view as you learn.
- Product taste. You have an instinct for what good looks like — in the product experience, in the positioning, in how your product shows up to users and buyers.
- Strong customer-centric product development skills, with experience turning qualitative customer signal into testable hypotheses.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration — you can align Engineering, Design, and go-to-market partners toward shared goals and hold the team accountable to outcomes.
- AI-native fluency. You build working prototypes and functional demos using AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Replit, Figma Make) before engineering spends a sprint. You can modify prompts, adjust UI flows, and run data analyses without filing a ticket. This is your default operating method, not a novelty.
